Why Giving and Volunteering Matters—Locally and Globally

Published February 18, 2025

Ever see a need and think, someone should do something about that? Well, what if that someone was you?

Giving—whether it’s your time, money, or resources—makes a difference. And the beautiful thing? When we give, we don’t just change other people’s lives; we change, too. Whether locally or globally, supporting mission-driven work is about more than just meeting immediate needs—it’s about creating lasting impact.

More Than Just a Handout—It’s About Sustainability

At Strategic Connections Global, we don’t believe in just providing temporary relief. We believe in creating long-term change. That’s why we assist with planning and funding projects that help people become self-sustaining.We’ve seen how a little support can turn into something bigger:

  • Farming projects that allow communities to grow their own food and sell the surplus.
  • Liquid soap production where people make and sell their own soap and are able to sell them at local markets.
  • A bakery within the church that provides fresh bake goods and helps sustain the community.
  • Support for orphans with school fees, supplies, and encouragement so they can have a future filled with opportunity.
  • Feeding those living on the streets—because no one should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from. We do our best to not only feed them with natural food - we nourish their souls with spirtual food. We preach the gospel of Christ through feeding mind, body and spirit!

It’s not just about charity—it’s about empowerment. By supporting these initiatives, we’re helping communities stand on their own feet and build something lasting.

Why Giving and Volunteering Matters

It’s easy to think, I don’t have much to give or my small contribution won’t make a difference. But trust me—it does.

1. Addressing Both Immediate and Long-Term Needs

Nonprofits and mission efforts fill in the gaps where governments and local systems often fall short. Whether it’s feeding someone who’s hungry today or helping a family start a business that feeds them for years to come, it all matters.

2. Living Out Faith Through Action

Faith isn’t just about what we believe—it’s about what we do. James 2:17 says, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” Giving and volunteering are ways we put love into action, showing people that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

3. Creating Sustainable Change

Quick fixes don’t last, but investing in people does. When we help fund projects that give people the tools to build a better life, we’re not just helping for a moment—we’re impacting generations.

4. Expanding Your Worldview

When you give or serve, you start to see life through a different lens. It opens your eyes to what really matters and deepens your gratitude for what you have. It reminds us that we’re all connected, no matter where we live.

5. A Blessing That Comes Full Circle

The funny thing about giving? It blesses you just as much as the person receiving. There’s something powerful about knowing that your generosity is creating opportunities and changing lives. Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it will be given to you.” When we step up to help, we often find that we’re the ones being enriched in ways we never expected.

How Can You Be Part of This?

You don’t have to move to another country or quit your job to make a difference. Here are some simple ways to start:

  • Give what you can. Even small donations help fund life-changing projects.
  • Volunteer your time. If you have skills, connections, or time to spare, put them to use.
  • Pray for mission efforts. Prayer is powerful, and every movement needs a strong foundation in prayer.
  • Support community projects. Buy from small businesses, invest in entrepreneurs, and be intentional about where your money goes.

The needs of the world can feel overwhelming, but we’re not called to do everything—we’re just called to do something. And together, those “somethings” add up to real, lasting change.

So, what’s one thing you can do today? Let’s make an impact—together.
